Experience Enrichment; The Ahoi Juicer

This functional and pleasurable “Ahoi Juicer” is one of a kind, used for both children and mothers in the kitchen although can be more pleasurable for the children. The shape of the product is like a boat, stimulating the idea of both the ocean which children love and helping in the kitchen with their mums. My mood board aims to present a single mother with three children
§ Coping on an average income
§ Living in a small apartment
§ Loves spending time with her children although works 5 days a week
§ Loves when her children help in the kitchen hence why I’ve made a pleasurable boat looking juicer/toy for the kids to enjoy. Therefore allows the children to cooperate
This boat looking juicer can be used both in the kitchen and as a children’s toy when the lid of the juicer detaches. When used in the kitchen it can encourage a healthy lifestyle for the children, allowing them to want to juice away fruit or lemon when mum is cooking in the kitchen.
Once the lid is detached off the boat container the children can drink from either end of the juicer making it pleasurable for the children once they’ve finished juicing. Because the lid is detachable children can clean the juicer once finished from the kitchen and can be used as a toy making it pleasurable even when the children need something to play with in the bath as an alternative.
If this “Ahoi Juicer” was to be manufactured it would be made of a plastic mould, making it easier for the mother to clean up in the kitchen, able to store away without being an unreasonable size and fun for the children however they choose to use it.
As children love having different choices I’ve allowed for the juicer to be used as both a functional and pleasurable item. This light yellow colour was chosen as it is associated with joy, happiness, intellect and energy which is definitely a colour which relates to children. It gives a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness and generates muscle energy.

  1. I think it would be more suitable for just the children. But I really like the images, it explains about your product before I even read the rationale.

  2. The idea is kind of interesting- as a juicer and also a toy, but I wouldn't be too sure to use it both in the bath AND in the kitchen................
And I was wondering if the lid would stay in place when you squeeze the orange, coz it's quite hard to squeeze the juice out, may be it would be better if it has a click-on feature. Although, I think it really promotes a healthy lifestyle and helping out in the kitchen.

  4. The younger me would adore a juicer like this, I imagine it would instantly disappear from the kitchen and turn up mysteriously at bath times. The toy-like exterior is fun and bright, which would undoubtedly invite children to help out in the kitchen without any nagging, encouraging cooperation with household tasks as well as a healthier diet for the entire family. With the choice of manufacturing material being plastic it would also be an affordable and durable product on the market. Considering all these factors I think your product really caters for your target audience, that being single mothers who may struggle at times to maintain both a career and a stable household. The Ahoi juicer would be a worthwhile addition to the kitchen, being within the available budget, and would and create some golden family moments.

  5. It's a very cute design, i think children would interact with it well. The bright colours are eye catching and exude a sense of fun.
I think if you refined the size and shape of the juicer it would work better, but overall i think it's a good concept

  6. Interesting idea. Dual function toy and squeezer/drinking cup. Lots of potential fun at bath time etc.. However I think there are a couple of safety issues . Pointy objects and kids do not mix. Sharp points near eyes, noses and mouths are always trouble. The size may need to be thought about. At present it seems a little too large for small hands to grasp. Use of textures and different materials would also enhance the users experience. I think modification of size and of the spout would make it more appealing to mothers who are the potential purchasers. This could be produced in lots of bright attractive colours.
